Rebecca Welles Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) | Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) | Certified Functional Medicine Trauma Specialist | Trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) | Certified Somatic Practitioner for Complex Trauma | Somatic EMDR Practitioner Rebecca is a graduate of Adler University in Chicago. She has extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, aging adults, couples, and families. Rebecca addresses a variety of challenges, including chronic and acute disabilities, chronic and neuroplastic pain, illness, disease, health-related issues, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related disorders. Rebecca utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach rooted in Existential and Adlerian principles, often incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based approaches, and polyvagal and somatic-based therapies. By tailoring her interventions to meet each client's unique needs, she ensures an individualized and holistic path to healing and growth. Constantly inspired by the resilience and courage of her clients, Rebecca views the therapeutic process as a collaborative journey, supporting meaningful change in both the mind and body. What is Somatic Therapy? Somatic therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body to help process trauma, stress, and emotional pain. It recognizes that past experiences, especially traumatic ones, are stored in the body as well as the mind. Instead of relying only on talking, somatic therapy incorporates body-centered techniques like breathwork, movement, mindfulness, and touch to release stored tension and promote healing. The goal is to help individuals become more aware of their bodily sensations, process unresolved emotions, and develop healthier ways to regulate their nervous system. “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.” -Joyce Sunada
